Waitress Interview Preparation Tips

What do you know about the restaurant? The best advice that we can offer is to do your research on the restaurant before your waitress interview.  Almost every restaurant has a website.  Go to it! This allows you to take a look at the types of food and drinks that they serve, as well as check out pictures and get a sense of their atmosphere.

  • What are their hours of operation?
  • Do they deliver?
  • What style of food do they serve?
  • Do they have any social media pages? (This is a great place to learn more about the restaurant.)

The more information you know about the restaurant and are able to bring up throughout the interview, the better.  Employers want to know that you are taking the interview, position and opportunity to be employed there seriously.  As you will find on the interview questions tab, often times the interviewer will ask you why you are applying at that specific restaurant.  Below are a few examples of things that are great to show your knowledge of the restaurant.

  • Items from the menu  (Maybe bring up how you just love the steak.)
  • The ambiance (The casual environment, elegance, etc.)
  • Wonderful reviews that you have heard about the restaurant
  • Bring up something unique about the restaurant. (How they buy their food from local farmers.)

Being able to talk about your knowledge of the restaurant will really help you stand out from the other applicants and will leave a lasting impression on the hiring manager.

Waitress Interview Preparation Tip

If you have not already dined at the restaurant, we recommend that you do so before your interview. Not only will it allow for you to look at the menu, but it will also give you a better gauge as to what the overall environment is like.

Waitress Interview Preparation Tip

Don’t go out the night before your interview.  Make sure that you are well-rested and that you get a full night’s sleep as it will more than likely show in the next day’s interview.
